Frequently Asked Questions

Autism is a neurological and developmental disorder that impacts how a person experiences and interacts with others and the world around them. It can impact how someone communicates, learns, socializes, and regulates their emotions. Every person with autism is different; their skills and needs can vary greatly.

Behavioral services are designed to help individuals of all ages and abilities, regardless of diagnosis, learn new skills, build independence, and reduce behaviors that may interfere with daily life. These services can also support families with everyday challenges at home, providing strategies for routines, communication, and managing behaviors. By focusing on the reasons behind behavior and using evidence-based strategies, behavioral services create meaningful, lasting change that improves overall quality of life.

ABA, or Applied Behavior Analysis, is a scientific approach within behavioral services that focuses on understanding behavior and creating meaningful change by adjusting environmental factors. Its goal is to build important skills while reducing behaviors that may interfere with a person’s daily life. ABA is most commonly provided for individuals with autism and is often covered through insurance. While autism is not something to be “cured,” ABA can help your child develop the skills that enhance their quality of life, support their independence, and allow them to thrive in their everyday environments. ABA is highly individualized, with interventions tailored to your child’s unique strengths, needs, and goals.

Behavioral services can help build essential skills in communication, social interaction, daily living, and emotional regulation. It can also address the reduction of behaviors that are more challenging and limit a person’s independence or ability to fully engage with their environment.

I believe all behavior communicates a need, and every child deserves support, especially when their behaviors feel more difficult to manage.

My direct service approach is naturalistic and play-based, creating learning experiences that feel fun and engaging—not like work. I want your child to feel happy, relaxed, and excited each time I arrive. Because regulation is the foundation for learning, I prioritize helping your child feel calm and connected so they can grow confidently and meaningfully. I use trauma-informed and assent based practices.

During parent consultation, we combine our expertise—you know your child best, and I bring expertise in behavior. Together, we collaborate to create strategies and plans that truly fit your family and support your child’s needs.

I provide a range of supportive services to meet the diverse needs of children, families, and community partners. My offerings include direct services, where individualized, evidence-based programs are delivered 1:1 by a BCBA; caregiver consultation, which empowers families with practical strategies and guidance tailored to their everyday routines; and school and community partnerships, where I collaborate with educators and organizations to enhance classroom support, address individual student needs, and promote inclusive, skill-building environments.

The services your child receives are guided by your chosen funding option. Families using insurance should note that insurance does require an autism diagnosis. Services begin with a thorough, individualized assessment to understand their child’s strengths and needs. Sessions typically include a mix of direct therapy and parent collaboration to support progress. While insurance may have some coverage limits or session guidelines, we work together to design a program that maximizes support and meets your child’s goals.

Private pay allows for flexibility in how services are structured, including fully individualized programs, additional sessions, or specialized supports tailored to your child’s unique needs. This option can make it easier to adjust scheduling, focus on specific goals, or add extra support in areas that matter most to your family. An autism diagnosis is not required for this option.

Together, we will design a plan that meets your child’s goals while fitting within the funding option you choose.

Whether your child just received a new diagnosis and you’re feeling overwhelmed, previous services haven’t been the right fit, potty training isn’t going well, or you’re simply looking for guidance and support, I’m here to help. Families reach out for many different reasons, and no concern is too big or too small. My goal is to meet you where you are, understand your child’s unique needs, and work alongside you to create meaningful, practical change.

At most traditional behavioral service providers, or ABA companies, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) oversees a child’s treatment plan while direct services are provided by a Behavior Technician (BT) or a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). BTs/RBTs are entry-level providers who must work under the supervision and guidance of a BCBA.

At Blooming Path Behavioral Services, all services are delivered directly by a BCBA. BCBAs are graduate level providers with extensive fieldwork experience, specialized training, board certification, and state licensure. BCBAs are required to complete ongoing continuing education credits to maintain their certification.

As a clinician, a BCBA applies behavioral principles to create meaningful, socially significant change. This service model allows for a stronger focus on high-quality care, consistent decision-making, and seamless continuity across all aspects of your child’s support.

Blooming Path Behavioral Services supports individuals of all ages, from early childhood through young adulthood. While I primarily address needs related to autism spectrum disorder, I also work with behavioral challenges connected to typical development as well as other diagnoses such as ADHD, anxiety, global developmental delays, and intellectual disabilities.

I have experience working with individuals with a wide range of developmental and medical diagnoses and I thoughtfully consider all relevant factors to provide personalized, comprehensive care.

In addition to diagnosis-specific needs, I also support children and families who do not have a formal diagnosis but may benefit from guidance in communication, regulation, daily living, social skills, or general behavior concerns. No diagnosis is required for meaningful, effective support.

I proudly serve the greater Columbus area, with a particular focus on the northern neighborhoods to best support families in that region. Please reach out if you'd like to know if you are within my service region!

Depending on the funding source, I can provide services within the home, school, and community. I can also provide Telehealth services when appropriate.
